Monday’s T-Ball Championship Game was an audience pleaser with both teams playing well throughout and demonstrating solid fundamentals and tremendous enthusiasm for the game. In the end, second half division winners, Operating Engineers, triumphed with a 21 to 13 victory over first half division winners, Crescenta Valley Insurance (CVI).

For CVI, Jake Schaffer (playing with a stomach virus) went 4 for 4 with a single, two doubles, and a home run. He led the team with six RBI's and added four outs. There was also solid play from Corey Hulley at third base, who caught an incredible line drive. Brayden Nguyen was fearless at second base with a pop up catch, and several outs. Vincent Parrott played stellar at first base - catching everything thrown at him like a human vacuum cleaner. Brian Harley was dominating at pitcher, Tom Lee had a home run, and Colby Larin hit the ball to the outfield on every at bat.

Operating Engineers relied on some heavy hitting to fuel four 5-run innings on offense. Defensively, the “Opies” were led by Roy Choe's solid glove at 3rd base, several acrobatic plays by Shortstop, Jack Breckow, and some fine glove work by Second Baseman, Joe Sevigny, as well as Pitcher, Briant Serra. Kevin Bradford was an anchor at 1st base, recording numerous put-outs complete with crowd pleasing full-body stretches.

John Breckow and Ed Parrott as well as their coaches; Todd Bradford, Drumond Schaeffer, Joe Allen and Skip McNevin, are all to commended for their great sportsmanship, never ending enthusiasm, and tremendous coaching abilities. All should be very proud what they accomplished this season.
